Awards and Belts

All A, B and C Class divisions will be competing for the CMTO Title Belt.

Seeding & Brackets

Fighters will be placed in their bracket by 'random draw'.  Because brackets are already divided by experience, fighters are already fighting others with similar experience.  Random draw is the quickest and fairest way to get the brackets completed

We will try our best to match up athletes from separate gyms. However, if two athletes from the same gym end up in the championship rounds you are expected to compete. If you don't want to compete, you forfeit.

On July 31st, we will begin adjusting single athlete brackets. We will contact coaches and ask if an athlete would like to change weight divisions, or experience divisions to have a match up.

If you have no opponent, and you choose not to change weight divisions or experience division we will refund your registration fee.

Withdraw/ Injuries

Refund will only be issued, if you are the only athlete in your division and we cannot find another match up for you. Refund will not be issued for injuries or other circumstances.

National Team Qualifier

To be on the Canadian National Team, means you are the top athlete in your division in Canada. This qualifies you to represent Canada in prestigious international tournaments like the IFMA World Championship. Participation in the CMTO qualifier is mandatory to join the Canadian National Team.

For athletes under 23 years old, the IFMA has a U23 division. Although CMTO doesn't have a separate U23 division, under 23 athletes should register for the Senior A Class. These athletes will be matched together first in the tournament draw but will still compete against elite senior athletes. The highest-ranking under 23 athlete in this category will qualify for the national team.

The CMTO qualifier is open to all nationalities, meaning a non-Canadian can win the division. In such cases, the top Canadian athlete in the division will be selected for the national team.

If you are not interested in the IFMA World Championship but still want to compete in the CMTO A Class division, you can do so. Winning the A Class Division will also make you eligible to compete for a Muay Thai Canada Title.
